About LyutsinaLyutsina Kazachenko, Mezzo-soprano, an accomplished artist in her native Russia, graduated from the St. Petersburg State Music Conservatory with a Master degree in vocal performance. She won numerous national vocal competitions and also performed on Russian TV. A resident with the world famous Mariinsky Theater (Kirov Theater) under the baton of Maestro Valery Gergiev, where she was heard in leading roles. She has also appeared in theaters of Europe, Japan, Argentina and United States. Highlights among her many roles include Verdi Eboli in 'Don Carlo', Bizet Carmen in 'Carmen', Azucena in 'Il Trovatore', Preziosilla in 'La Forza del Destino', Amneris in 'Aida' and many others. She performed globally promoting the opera of Dmitry Shostakovich 'Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk' under the baton of Maestro Rostropovich, who wrote afterward "She presented herself as a highly skillful and professional musician with a wonderful voice". Ms.Kazachenko received municipal Award from the city of St.Petersburg for the best solo performance of the year. Immigrating to the United States in 2001 she now resides in San Francisco. Since then she has performed with several opera companies in California and New York and has a busy solo recital schedule. Lyutsina is also a voice teacher and has conducted master classes in the United States and Italy. Ms.Kazachenko started her vocal teaching in the St.Petersburg Conservatory and is teaching privately until now. She is a member of the Music teacher association of California.
